This hook is inspired by "Carbon" from the Scarlet's Walk album. (I hope you recognize the "crystalline irises"!) I chose "Charcoal" Dyed Hardwood, and hand carved designs that spiral around the top of the hook. I then painted them with silver metallic acrylic, and added blues and whites to give a more subtle effect. Of course the treasure in this hook is a gorgeous 3mm Amethyst gemstone set in Sterling Silver findings. The picture doesn't even COME CLOSE to showing how beautiful this hook is in the hand -- how wonderfully the amethyst sparkles in the light!

Because the carved ornamentation does have a little texture to it, I made sure to put it far enough to the top of the hook that it won't rub your hand whether you use the "knife" or "pencil" hold. This goes for the amethyst as well -- it won't even come close to touching your hand! Size N (10 mm), eight inches long. Heirloom quality.
