This hook is inspired by "Apollo's Frock" from Scarlet's Hidden Treasures on the Welcome to Sunny Florida DVD.

Apollo's Frock... literally clothed in the sun... flames, fire, yellows, oranges, reds, indeed one of my favorite songs, especially the piano introduction. To try and bring the magic of this piece to the crochet hook, I began with "Lemonwood" Dyed Hardwood, then added bands of "Fiji Orange" Dyed Hardwood alternating with Yellowheart, and finally a Yellowheart finial. I wanted to create a special design and so turned the banded section into a Greek "column."

I then carved flames, licking upward to the top of the hook! I painted these carvings in copper metallic acrylic, intensifying the design with bronzes and golds. This to these jewel-like tones, I added a 3mm Garnet, set in Sterling Silver. This is an absolutely STUNNING hook in the hand -- everything came out so beautifully perfect!

This piece is engraved with my signature/artist's mark. Size K (6.5 mm), just over eight inches long. Heirloom quality.
