"Art Deco Beauty"
Materials: "French Green," "Fuchsia," and "Arctic Light"** Dyed Hardwoods, Holly
This little hook turned out to have something of an Art Deco flair about her: bold colors stand out against each other, creating visual stops and shapes reminiscent of the period. I love the little "flare" of the Dyed Hardwood on the finial -- looks like a little flame! I hand-turned this hook from dyed and laminated hardwood that's been impregnated with resin and densified, thus made extremely strong and durable, and also resistant to temperature variations and moisture.
I began with "French Green" for the shaft, then added a large section of "Fuchsia" between bands of bright white Holly. I then made the greater part of the finial with "Arctic Light"** Dyed Hardwood. The colors go scrumptiously together! She's so beautiful in the hand! Smooth as glass! Size K+ (7.5 mm), just under eight inches long. Heirloom quality.
