"Aquatic Beauty"
Materials: "Aqua" Dyed Hardwood, Acrylic
Swim down, down with your mermaid tail, bubbles rising around you in the turquoise azure sea... down, down to to the very bottom, where you reach in, letting the golden sands sift through your fingers, where finally you find precious pink pearls, hidden beneath the waves.
I have recently returned from the Utah Woodturning Syposium, which was fantastic! So much inspiration to be had! This hook was directly inspired from that experience, and I began it with "Aqua" Dyed Hardwood, turned a pleasing shape, then carved a free form design, reminiscent of ocean flotsam and jetsam. I then painted it with golden acrylic, adding bits of pink here and there. This ornamentation does have a little texture to it, so I made sure to put it far enough to the top of the hook that it won't rub your hand whether you use the "knife" or "pencil" hold. I must say, this is one of my favorite new designs!
This hook is made from dyed and laminated hardwood that's been impregnated with resin and densified, thus made extremely strong and durable, and also resistant to temperature variations and moisture. Smooth as glass! Size K (6.5 mm), just under eight inches long. Heirloom quality.
