"Fuchsia Purple Party"
Materials: "Fuchsia" Dyed Hardwood, Acrylic
Purple in my head, purple in my heart, violet in my thoughts, pink confetti whispers in my ears. A passionate purple party begins, and all the guests are dressed in varying shades of aubergine, eggplant, fuchsia, and the like. Purple light rains down, splashing pinkist dots on the violet carpet, and the dance begins!
Yes, a purple mood seems to have struck this week! I rather liken this lovely little hook to the chocolate lover's dream: a triple fudge brownie with chocolate chips and equally chocolate ice cream on the side! (Or, for that matter, a single Godiva dark chocolate truffle!) I began with thoughts of purple, and chose "Fuchsia" Dyed Hardwood. After turning, I carved a free form design, then painted it with metallic acrylics, in varying shades of purple, pink, red, blue, and a bit of silver for extra shine! The designs flow all the way around the hook -- I only wish I could post a video of all sides for you to see! This ornamentation does have a little texture to it, so I made sure to put it far enough to the top of the hook that it won't rub your hand whether you use the "knife" or "pencil" hold.
I hand-turned this hook from dyed and laminated hardwood that's been impregnated with resin and densified, thus made extremely strong and durable, and also resistant to temperature variations and moisture. Smooth as glass! Size H (5 mm), just under eight inches long. Heirloom quality.
