"Lavendar Swirl"

Materials: Olivewood, Acrylic

This precious little beauty is another hook inspired from my travels to Utah and the marvelous Symposium held there this past month! I began with one of my favorite woods, Olivewood, turned a pleasing shape, then carved a swirling, dotted design into the finial. I then painted it with metallic acrylics in lovely light purple, with a hint of blue and gold to create subtle shadings. This ornamentation does have a little texture to it, so I made sure to put it far enough to the top of the hook that it won't rub your hand whether you use the "knife" or "pencil" hold.

The designs are inspired by by own early painting style, when I was a child about a million years ago. I loved painting in swirls and spirals, creating designs from simple lines of color. It's so pretty in the hand, I wish I could show you every side! Size 7 (4.5 mm) (Between G and H), just under eight inches long. Heirloom quality.
