Sea blue, sun lightening the water, ripples of light cascading over the kelp forests, swaying, waving, undulating with every current, shining golden under golden rays.

I hand-turned this crochet hook from one of my special custom colors, "Ocean Waves" ** Dyed Hardwood, whose colors are infinitely reminiscent of the sea. Into the finial I turned three graduated "beads," like bubbles rising from the depths, then hand-carved lovely seaweedy shapes into the top, starting by caressing a "bubble" of color. I then painted these slim, elegant "leaves" with metallic paints in gold, adding hints of blue and purple to complete the "underwater" effect.

This ornamentation does have a little texture to it, so I made sure to put it far enough to the top of the hook that it won't rub your hand whether you use the "knife" or "pencil" hold. This piece is signed with my artist's mark. This hook is made from dyed and laminated hardwood that's been impregnated with resin and densified, thus made extremely strong and durable, and also resistant to temperature variations and moisture. Smooth as glass! Size L (8 mm), eight inches long. Heirloom quality.
