The jazz music flows up from the street even during the day, notes lingering in the air, caressing the soul. Flowers of every color imaginable dangle down from hanging pots, nearly touching the finely filigreed wrought iron railings of the balconies. Ahh, the wrought iron -- curls and twirls and twists and black and white, and sometimes gray. The music swirls it's way around those intricate designs, finding a path to joy.

I turned this hook out of lovely Figured Asian Satinwood, which is very very lightweight and lovely to hold. The "figured" part of the name shows up in wonderful chatoyant "stripes" on the top and bottom sides which dance in the light! I hand-carved swirling designs into the finial of the hook, then painted them with metallic acrylics, using black, silver, taupe and other colors to bring the design to life!

Of course I wasn't finished just yet! I thought... mmmmm... today's a day for purple, and so added a 3mm Amethyst set in Sterling Silver to the hook. It looks absolutely gorgeous with the creamy color tone of the wood!

This piece is engraved with my signature/artist's mark. Size M (9 mm), eight inches long. Heirloom quality.
