Deep under the sea, a monster lies in wait -- firey red thoughts breed crimson hue, a flaming eye sees through the darkness. Arms and arms and arms, curling, writhing, grasping, searching for nutriment... or possibly something else...

I hand-turned this hook from dyed and laminated hardwood that's been impregnated with resin and densified, thus made extremely strong and durable, and also resistant to temperature variations and moisture. I began with ocean-blue "Indigo Royalwood" Dyed Hardwood. I then carved and textured the top of the hook until a glorious squid emerged! I brought him to life with metallic acrylics in reds and pinks and golds, giving him a firey eye -- a 3mm Garnet gemstone set in Sterling Silver. This hook looks absolutely incredible in the hand!

This ornamentation does have a little texture to it, so I made sure to put it far enough to the top of the hook that it won't rub your hand whether you use the "knife" or "pencil" hold. This goes for the Garnet as well -- it won't even come close to touching your hand! This piece is engraved with my signature/artist's mark. Smooth as glass! Size K+ (7.5 mm), eight inches long.
