Precise woodturning technique is the cornerstone of my teaching philosophy. Why? Because it works. Over the years, I've discovered that the better the technique I've used, the better my finished products turned out -- I am able to achieve precise lines, (exactly the way I'd envisioned them), spend MUCH less time sanding, and work with less effort than before. This has allowed me to succeed as a full-time professional woodturner.
I have studied with world-renowned woodturning artist Cindy Drozda to learn the precise techniques that she uses to create her fine work, and am also a student of her design philosophy.
My specialty classes revolve around creating fiber arts tools such as crochet hooks, nostepindes (ball winders), lace bobbins, etc., as well as hair pins, shawl pins, and other spindlework. I also teach basic and intermediate woodturning skills, which include projects such as bowls, weedpots, and turned boxes. Additionally, I teach platform and jig grinding for sharpening woodturning tools.
Please contact me to schedule a class at your facility or with your group. I also offer individualized instruction (e.g. private lessons) to help you get started in woodturning, improve your cutting technique, or excel in creating fiber arts tools.
