Caring for Wooden Items

Here are tips to keep your wooden items shiny and new. Please e-mail me if you have any questions.

  1. Store your wooden items AWAY from direct sunlight. Sunlight can change the color of the wood and/or cause excess heat, (see below).

  2. Keep wooden items away from space heaters, or other "hot spots" as heat can cause the wood to crack. Freezing the wood is none too good either.

  3. Keep away from water. Unless specifically noted in my listings, the items I sell aren't water proof, and should therefore be kept out of wet hair, or puddles, (or oceans) of water. Otherwise, the finish might be compromised, and the wood itself could be damaged.

  4. Don't force your wooden item. My tools and hair pins are meant for regular use; however, you would not want to use them as pry-bars or anything other than they are meant to do. Please see the Reliability & Repair Page for more suggestions.

  5. Handle your wooden item as you would a precious piece of jewelry that you own: Love your wooden item. Treat it gently and with respect, and it will always treat you back.

With proper care your wooden items will serve you for a lifetime, and hopefully generations afterward :)
